First Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award Recipient

Ellenbrook Secondary College is proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone in 2025, with Year 12 Lily Wilson becoming the first Ellenbrook SC student to complete the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Australia. This outstanding achievement follows her earlier success in earning both the Bronze and Silver awards, marking a journey defined by dedication, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to personal growth.

Reaching the gold level is no small feat. Students undertaking this challenge commit to at least 12 months of focused effort across Voluntary Service, Skills, Physical Recreation, and an Adventurous Journey, along with the completion of a Gold Residential Project. Lily’s accomplishment reflects consistent hard work, perseverance, and a strong sense of responsibility to both herself and her community.

On 31 October, Lily was formally recognised for her achievement at a prestigious ceremony at Government House, where she had the honour of meeting the Govenor of Western Australia, His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson APM . It was a proud moment for Lily, her family, and the Ellenbrook SC community as she stood among Western Australia’s distinguished Gold Award recipients.

We congratulate Lily on this historic achievement and thank her for setting an inspiring example for current and future Ellenbrook SC students.
Students interested in taking on the Duke of Edinburgh’s Challenge are encouraged to speak with Careers Practitioner Ms Cat Trigance or visit the official website www.dukeofed.com.au for more information.
