A huge congratulations to our amazing volleyball teams on an outstanding performance at the School Sport Western Australia Inc. Senior Volleyball Championships held on Friday 19 June.

🥇 Our Boys are School Sport WA Champions, taking home the Gold Medal after an unbeaten tournament without dropping a single set all day.
🥈 Our Girls finished as Runners-Up, also going through the day without losing a set until an incredibly close Grand Final. They fell by the narrowest of margins, losing by just one point in a thrilling finish.

To have both teams dominate throughout the tournament, remaining undefeated in every set leading into the finals, is a testament to their hard work, teamwork, resilience and determination.

We couldn't be prouder of every player for the way they represented our school both on and off the court. A fantastic achievement by everyone involved!
Congratulations to our students and Mr Lance on an unforgettable day of volleyball!

On Thursday 18 June, we hosted a pizza lunch to celebrate students who have successfully completed their two-week Workplace Learning (WPL) placements.

Students thoroughly valued the experience, gaining practical, real-world skills and confidence in their fields of interest. Feedback from employers continues to be overwhelmingly positive, with students demonstrating professionalism and the ability to apply their classroom learning in workplace settings. Several students received commendations from their employers, with one already securing an apprenticeship and another being offered a part-time job.

WPL provides our Year 11 and Year 12 students with the opportunity to apply and consolidate their VET qualifications in their chosen pathways, including electrical, hospitality, aged care, education, animal studies, childcare and more.

We extend our sincere thanks to the employers who generously supported our students with these opportunities, as well as our Certificate course teachers and VET Office staff for their ongoing guidance and commitment.

On 18 June, selected Year 9 and Year 10 GAT and Mathematics students participated in a #finverity incursion - an engaging session designed to equip individuals with the tools to confidently manage money and take control of their financial future.

The program focused on empowering students with practical financial knowledge that supports confident money management and long-term financial independence. The session included real-life concepts such as banking structures, superannuation, tax access and long-term wealth-building strategies.

On Wednesday 17 June, our Year 10 Drama students and selected Year 9 Drama students had the exciting opportunity to watchWestern Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA)'s third year acting students perform a contemporary adaptation of Romeo and Juliet.

Performed across the road from the new WAAPA location at the Heath Ledger Theatre they caught the train together to see this ageless masterpiece come to life.
Desire, dreams, and destiny collide in the world's most famous story of love at first sight.

It was a fantastic experience for our Drama students to watch this timeless classic reimagined through a modern lens and brought to life on stage. This live theatre experience provided students with a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of performance, staging and storytelling.

As part of their depth study, Mr Coney’s Modern History class visited the Japan Education and Cultural Centre of WA (JECCWA) on Tuesday 16 June, where they enjoyed an immersive cultural experience.

They participated in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, tried their hand at calligraphy, learned the energetic Bon dance, and tested their skills with the Kendama game. A highlight of the visit was the opportunity to wear traditional Japanese attire, giving students a deeper appreciation of cultural dress and its significance.

It was a fantastic hands-on experience that allowed students to deepen their understanding of Japanese culture beyond the classroom. They not only learnt about traditions and customs, but also connected with members of the Japanese community, making the day both educational and memorable.

A wonderful experience filled with culture, learning and fun!

What an incredible day at our Mary Poppins Musical Busy Bee on Sunday 14 June. It was fantastic to see students, families, Arts staff and members of our Ellenbrook Secondary College P&C come together to help bring our upcoming production to life. An impressive amount of work was completed, from painting scenery and building set pieces to sewing costumes, decorating props and preparing elements for the stage. Every contribution made a real difference.

A special mention goes to our students, many of whom are not only busy rehearsing for the production but also gave up their time to be part of the Busy Bee. Their dedication and commitment have been outstanding, and it has been wonderful to see them so invested both on and off the stage.

The day was a great example of what can be achieved when a community works towards a shared goal. The teamwork, creativity and support on display were truly inspiring. Thank you to our P&C for keeping everyone well fed throughout the day and for their continued support of Performing Arts at Ellenbrook SC.

We are grateful to everyone including our Ellenbrook SC alumni who gave up part of their weekend to support our students and this production.
