𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 Every Thursday is Literacy Day at our College! This recently launched initiative by Ellenbrook SC's Whole School Literacy Committee aims to improve our students' awareness and use of Tier 2 (academic) vocabulary. Every Thursday, Home Rooms are encouraged to participate in interactive literacy activities that focus on a new Tier 2 Word of the Week while also reviewing previously covered terms.
On 2 July, we celebrated the success of Stirling Senior Home Room 4, the top-performing Home Room in our Week 10 Whole School Literacy Quiz. The class was presented with a Certificate of Achievement by our Principal, Dr Havel, and was also rewarded with a choice of scented stickers in recognition of their outstanding efforts.
𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 On Wednesday 1 July, a group of our Year 10 students attended the Get Into Resources event, where they explored the exciting and diverse career opportunities available within Western Australia's resources sector.
Throughout the day, students participated in hands-on activities and visited an interactive careers expo, speaking with industry representatives from organisations including BHP, North Metropolitan TAFE, Fortescue and WesTrac. They discovered the wide range of careers the industry offers, from automation, renewable energy and environmental management to geology, surveying, engineering, administration, heavy diesel mechanics and transport.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing our students confidently ask thoughtful and engaging questions of exhibitors. Their curiosity and willingness to learn demonstrated a genuine interest in exploring future career pathways.
Our students represented Ellenbrook SC with enthusiasm, curiosity and professionalism; we are incredibly proud of the way they engaged throughout the day.
𝗘𝘅𝗰𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗝 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 On Wednesday 1 July, a selection of our Dance, Drama, and Music students had the exciting opportunity to attend the live performance of MJ: The Musical at Crown Theatre Perth in Burswood.
The show was outstanding, and students thoroughly enjoyed the performance. It was particularly rewarding to hear how appreciative they were afterwards, with many expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to attend. Their positive feedback highlighted just how much they valued this memorable excursion.
This excursion allowed students to experience one of Perth’s premier performing arts venues and deepen their appreciation of live performance, audience etiquette and the many elements that contribute to a successful theatre production.

𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝟳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳 𝗚𝗔𝗧 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 On Monday 29 June, the College welcomed newly accepted Year 7 2027 Gifted and Talented (GAT) students and their families to a special Welcome Evening. Program Coordinator Shaloni Naik delivered an in-depth overview of the program, including what GAT is, its structure, and the wide range of academic, extracurricular, and experiential opportunities available to students.
Ms Naik also highlighted what sets the Ellenbrook SC GAT Program apart, noting that students benefit from a dedicated GAT Wellness Program and leadership development opportunities, ensuring a well-rounded and supportive learning experience.
Since its establishment in 2021, the program has continued to grow, and 2026 marks a significant milestone as the first year Ellenbrook SC offers a full GAT pathway from Year 7 through to Year 12. Ellenbrook SC is proud to be one of the selected schools across the state to deliver this endorsed GAT program, providing students with exceptional opportunities to excel.
𝗡𝗲𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰 The Ellenbrook SC Netball Academy ran a free clinic on Monday 29 June for Year 5 and Year 6 students, with a fantastic turnout. Students had the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge of the game. Under the guidance of Ms Rumble, students took part in a range of engaging drills and skill-based activities designed to build confidence, teamwork, and fundamental netball techniques in a supportive environment.
The clinic provides an excellent pathway for primary school students to experience structured netball training and gain an insight into the Netball Academy at Ellenbrook SC which will be offered for the first time to Year 7s in 2027.
For students who were unable to attend this session and are keen for another opportunity, the next round will be held in Term 3 on Monday 21 September at 3:15pm in the gym. No bookings are required and it is open to any interested Year 5 and 6 students.

𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝟭 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 A huge congratulations to our talented cast for putting up an amazing showcase at the Semester 1 Arts in Motion Showcase last week. From expressive and high-energy dance routines in Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop to engaging drama performances exploring heroes, villains, life’s misconceptions and more, our Year 7 to 12 Dance and Drama students captivated audiences with their creativity, skill and passion.
We had a sell-out show on both nights and we are confident that everyone who attended was thoroughly entertained by the outstanding performances and production quality on display. Our students should be incredibly proud of the commitment, courage and teamwork they demonstrated both on stage and behind the scenes.
A huge thank you to Elicia Arnold, Caroline Harper-Rigby, our dedicated Arts staff and backstage crew for bringing the showcase to life, and to all staff, parents, carers who continue to support our students.

𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 On Tuesday 23 June, our Year 10 and Year 11 Outdoor Education students took part in the 2026 School Orienteering Championships held at Mills Park, Beckenham.
Students were grouped according to their age and required to navigate a course using a map and compass as quickly as possible.
Ellenbrook SC featured multiple times during the presentation ceremony, achieving three podium finishes - an outstanding result in a competition that included 16 schools. Congratulations to the following students, and to all who participated:

Our Junior musicians demonstrated impressive performance skills and stage presence. It was fantastic to see them rise to the occasion, performing with confidence and enthusiasm. For many, this marked their first experience performing in front of a large audience, and they truly embraced the opportunity.
Our Senior music students once again delivered an exceptional program of professional-calibre performances. Featuring a diverse selection of challenging repertoire that demonstrated their commitment to excellence throughout the evening.
Congratulations to all students involved - your talent, teamwork, and dedication made these showcases incredibly memorable.

On Monday 29 June, the College welcomed newly accepted Year 7 2027 Gifted and Talented (GAT) students and their families to a special Welcome Evening. Program Coordinator Shaloni Naik delivered an in-depth overview of the program, including what GAT is, its structure, and the wide range of academic, extracurricular, and experiential opportunities available to students.
Ms Naik also highlighted what sets the Ellenbrook SC GAT Program apart, noting that students benefit from a dedicated GAT Wellness Program and leadership development opportunities, ensuring a well-rounded and supportive learning experience.
Since its establishment in 2021, the program has continued to grow, and 2026 marks a significant milestone as the first year Ellenbrook SC offers a full GAT pathway from Year 7 through to Year 12. Ellenbrook SC is proud to be one of the selected schools across the state to deliver this endorsed GAT program, providing students with exceptional opportunities to excel.

The Ellenbrook SC Netball Academy ran a free clinic on Monday 29 June for Year 5 and Year 6 students, with a fantastic turnout. Students had the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge of the game. Under the guidance of Ms Rumble, students took part in a range of engaging drills and skill-based activities designed to build confidence, teamwork, and fundamental netball techniques in a supportive environment.
The clinic provides an excellent pathway for primary school students to experience structured netball training and gain an insight into the Netball Academy at Ellenbrook SC which will be offered for the first time to Year 7s in 2027.
For students who were unable to attend this session and are keen for another opportunity, the next round will be held in Term 3 on Monday 21 September at 3:15pm in the gym. No bookings are required and it is open to any interested Year 5 and 6 students.

A huge congratulations to our talented cast for putting up an amazing showcase at the Semester 1 Arts in Motion Showcase last week. From expressive and high-energy dance routines in Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop to engaging drama performances exploring heroes, villains, life’s misconceptions and more, our Year 7 to 12 Dance and Drama students captivated audiences with their creativity, skill and passion.
We had a sell-out show on both nights and we are confident that everyone who attended was thoroughly entertained by the outstanding performances and production quality on display. Our students should be incredibly proud of the commitment, courage and teamwork they demonstrated both on stage and behind the scenes.

On Tuesday 23 June, our Year 10 and Year 11 Outdoor Education students took part in the 2026 School Orienteering Championships held at Mills Park, Beckenham.
Students were grouped according to their age and required to navigate a course using a map and compass as quickly as possible.
Ellenbrook SC featured multiple times during the presentation ceremony, achieving three podium finishes - an outstanding result in a competition that included 16 schools. Congratulations to the following students, and to all who participated:
🥇1st Place - Lashiya C, Year 11 Girls Individual
🥈2nd Place - Daisy F, Year 11 Girls Individual
🥇 1st Place - Tengaru R and Liam M, Year 10 Boys Pairs
The Outdoor Education students once again represented the college with outstanding pride, with Mr Hatch, Mr Ridley and Miss Alaga all extremely pleased with how they carried themselves. Well done to everyone!

Thank you to the families who attended the Year 7 2027 Prospective Students Information Evening. It was a highly engaging and informative session, providing families with the opportunity to learn more about Ellenbrook SC, explore our course offerings, and connect with our dedicated staff. Attendees also enjoyed viewing a range of student work displays and gained valuable insight into the role of the College Board and the P&C Association.

On 19 and 20 June, our Specialist Music students presented two outstanding evenings of music as they took to the stage for the Junior and Senior Showcases.
Our Junior musicians demonstrated impressive performance skills and stage presence. It was fantastic to see them rise to the occasion, performing with confidence and enthusiasm. For many, this marked their first experience performing in front of a large audience, and they truly embraced the opportunity.
Our Senior music students once again delivered an exceptional program of professional-calibre performances. Featuring a diverse selection of challenging repertoire that demonstrated their commitment to excellence throughout the evening.
Congratulations to all students involved - your talent, teamwork, and dedication made these showcases incredibly memorable.
A big shoutout to Teacher in Charge of Music, Stella Coskun, along with The Arts staff, Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) staff, the backstage crew, our amazing photographer Nick Lance, and our technical expert Adrian Jelavic.
