Student Honoured in WA Spirit of ANZAC Competition

Year 11 student Charlotte Tooby has been announced as one of just four winners of the WA Spirit of ANZAC 2026 competition, following a rigorous assessment process held at the Cannington Army and Air Force Cadets Barracks. Nominated by Geoff Harvey from the Ellenbrook Police Ranger Cadets, Charlotte was one of only 13 nominees selected to participate statewide – an achievement in itself and has made history as the first‑ever Police Ranger Cadet to receive this prestigious honour.

The Spirit of ANZAC competition recognises young people who demonstrate leadership, character and a deep respect for service. Competitors were assessed across five criteria: dress and bearing, first aid knowledge, general knowledge, service to the community, and a personal speech reflecting on what ANZAC means to them. Charlotte’s success reflects her commitment, maturity and strong sense of service to others.

As a winner, Charlotte will travel to Canberra from 22–26 April to take part in ANZAC Day commemorations. During this experience, she will attend the Dawn Service, lay a wreath at the Last Post Ceremony, visit military museums and memorials, and march in the National ANZAC Day Parade alongside Army Cadets. This is an extraordinary and meaningful opportunity that recognises both her personal achievements and her dedication as a Police Ranger Cadet.

Congratulations to Charlotte on this outstanding achievement. We are extremely proud of her and commend her for representing her school and community with such distinction.
