Netball

The Netball Academy at Ellenbrook Secondary College provides specialist coaching to enhance students’ knowledge and skills in netball. The program enhances player performance while placing an emphasis on all aspects of the sport, including skill development, fitness requirements, game strategies, and the opportunity to develop umpiring and coaching skills.

Program Structure

  • Students recommended for the Netball Academy based on their performance in the selection trials.
  • Students will participate in two timetabled lessons per week.

Year 7 Netball Academy NEW

Year 7 Netball Academy is designed for students who are already actively involved in netball outside of school and are looking to further develop their skills. The program provides a supportive, high-performance environment where students can grow their confidence, refine their technique, and build strong team connections.

Students are challenged through higher-level competition, allowing them to test their abilities against other experienced players while continuing to strengthen and perfect their netball skills. Through structured training sessions, students focus on skill development, game strategies, teamwork, and personal growth, helping to build a strong foundation for future sporting pathways.

Application Process Now Open for 2027

To be in the Netball Academy, students must:

  • Submit a Netball Academy Application Form.
  • Complete an Application for Enrolment together with supporting documents.
  • Application closes on Friday 24 July 2026.

If successful, students will be offered a place in the academy.
Note: The commencement of the Year 7 Netball Academy is subject to adequate interests from students.

Year 9 and 10 Netball Academy

This intensive course is designed for students with experience playing at a club level, requiring a strong skill set and a thorough understanding of the rules and regulations of the game. Students who do not meet the expected standards of behaviour or participation may be removed from the program.

Prerequisites

To be eligible for this course, students must:

  • be recommended for the program based on their performance in the Year 7 and Year 8 Netball Lightning Carnivals as well as their performance in the Year 8 General Physical Education classes, which include a seven-week netball unit.
  • maintain a minimum school attendance rate of 90% to remain enrolled.
  • achieve a minimum B grade in General Physical Education.

Netball Clinics

Ellenbrook Secondary College invite interested students currently in Year 5 and 6 to the College netball clinics focusing on fundamentals and basic skills. The clinics are offered free to any interested student and will be held in the College gym on:

  • Monday 29 June at 3:15 pm to 4:00 pm
  • Monday 21 September at 3:15 pm to 4:00 pm

Students who participate in the clinics will have the opportunity to be considered for a place in the Netball Academy when they enrol in Year 7 at Ellenbrook Secondary College. No application is needed to join the clinic. Students can simply arrive at the College gym as per schedule.

Note: Students who are not intending to enrol at Ellenbrook Secondary College are still welcome to participate in the netball clinics.
