At Ellenbrook Secondary College, we believe that all students have the right to an inclusive education. We value and support every student to fully participate, learn, grow, and succeed within a welcoming and inclusive school culture. We recognise disability as one of many natural forms of human diversity.
Our aim is to provide safe and inclusive environments for students with disabilities and learning difficulties. This includes adapting both the learning environment and teaching strategies to ensure all students have meaningful opportunities to engage and thrive. We provide personalised support, differentiated teaching strategies, and collaborative planning to help every student reach their full potential. Our staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to offer effective guidance and specialist support, allowing us to better respond to the individual needs of our students.
Students with Disability
Ellenbrook Secondary College is committed to supporting students with both diagnosed and imputed disabilities. Our inclusive approach is underpinned by a team of experienced and dedicated teachers and education assistants who provide tailored learning support across the College.
Students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and disabilities are supported within mainstream classes through a differentiated curriculum, as well as individualised and modified learning programs. Personalised SEN plans are thoughtfully developed in collaboration with parents, therapists, and external service providers to ensure each student’s unique needs are met.
In line with Department of Education guidelines, onsite therapy services may also be arranged upon parent request.
Education Support
Students with moderate to high needs may be eligible for placement in specialised Education Support classes. This includes students with an Intellectual Disability, Physical Disability or Autism Spectrum Disorder with a demonstrated high educational need. Together with small classroom sizes, specialist teachers and programs, students are supported to reach their learning goals with emphasis on becoming independent and active members of the community.
Learning Hub
Ellenbrook Secondary College was benefited from the inclusion of a ‘Learning Hub’ within the mainstream. The Hub is an inclusive and safe space that nurtures the social and emotional wellbeing of students with imputed and diagnosed disabilities or students with learning difficulties. With support from a dedicated and passionate team, students can access the Hub for a regulation break or can utilise the calm and quiet classroom space to complete assessments and course work as required.
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
Parents and families who are linked in with and navigating external support through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) are welcomed to seek support from College staff regarding their child’s plan and in particular school leavers employment support pathways.
