Congratulations to Year 11 student Vince Madnack and Year 12 student Albert Mombo who were chosen to compete in the WorldSkills Australia National Championships and Skills Show for 2021. Over 500 competitors will showcase and benchmark their skills on a national stage as they compete for gold and a chance to represent Australia at the International Competition in Shanghai in 2022. Vince will be competing in the Bricklaying competition and Albert in the Masters Plumbing Association (MPA).
The Honourable Sue Ellery MLC, Minister of Education and Training presented each competitor with their uniforms at Parliament House on July 26. The competition took place at the Perth Convention Centre, with over 500 competitors! Many scouts attended the convention looking for apprentices, this has been a fantastic opportunity for Vince and Albert to showcase their skills.
We are so proud that former Ellenbrook Secondary College student Duan Duvenhage, who won gold at in the Bricklaying at a State level in 2018 and is now in his final year of his Bricklaying apprenticeship, has offered to come into the College to help train Vince for his competition. It was wonderful to see our past students come back to mentor our current students.
